Backstory

Demi was abandoned as a child on the doorstep of a tavern called The Sotted Sylph. Owned by a Hyur named Estrid Mulliner, the Sylph was a bustling hub for a village once nestled in the Nine Ivies. Estrid raised the Viera as her own daughter, naming her after the sauce that topped the tavern's signature omelets: Demi Glace.When the Garleans deemed the village a liability due to growing unrest and its proximity to Baelsar's Wall, it was quashed. Demi, untrained in combat and unable to save her adoptive mother, fled and became one of the tragedy's few survivors. As she ran, she swore a promise never to be caught powerless to defend her loved ones again.The Viera began an adventuring career to train herself in pursuit of this goal, which took her from Gridania to Limsa Lominsa. Along the way she learned to use a bow, and then chakrams. For a period of a little over a year, she joined a dance troupe from Radz-at-Han that was touring La Noscea. Meanwhile she also apprenticed at Limsa's famous Bismarck, as it was both her and her mother's shared dream for her to become a Culinarian and open her own tavern someday. Along the way she met her mentor and best friend, Torrill Bladebreak, who dramatically helped improve both her combat skills and intuition.In time, life led her across the sea to Yanxia, where she had agreed to serve as personal chef to a noblewoman named Seika Torioi in hopes of earning more money to fund her dream tavern. Demi quickly fell in love with her employer, and in time they grew from associates to lovers to soulmates, and now wives.At Seika's urging, Demi set aside her adventuring to focus upon the tavern, and now runs a successful venture in Kugane called Purlieu. But she still keeps up her training, now utilizing Seika's weapons technology to defend herself and her family — the very Garlean technology that had destroyed her former village. With her past behind her, Demi looks to the future, fiercely protective of this new life she has built.

Seika Torioi

Wife, Soulmate. Demi's beloved wife. Demi fell fast and hard for Seika's confidence and tendency to speak her mind.Despite their many differences, the two of them fit together as if made for each other. Through Seika's encouragement and support, Demi has achieved the dreams she once thought far out of reach.Demi is highly protective of Seika and would do anything for her - very much literally.

Torrill Bladebreak

Former Mentor, Best Friend. When Demi was on her own apprenticing at the Bismarck in Limsa, she met Torrill, a former Bloodsands gladiator who was working as a freelance supplier at the time. The two hit it off and he promptly "adopted" her as his mentee after learning of her adventuring aspirations.Demi and Torrill have been tightly knit like family ever since. He taught her much of the basis of her current skills, and though they don't adventure together anymore, they still keep close as they work together at Purlieu.
